Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has urged the provincial government of North Sumatra to promptly establish public service malls to accelerate the national bureaucratic reform process.
“I heard that in North Sumatra, there is no public service mall in districts and cities. For that reason, I urge this institution to be established in all districts and cities,” he said during a meeting at the North Sumatra Governor’s official residence in Medan, North Sumatra, on Wednesday.
According to Amin, President Joko Widodo has ordered the establishment of public service malls through the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 89 of 2021 on the Implementation of Public Service Malls to integrate the services of the regional government and ministerial and non-ministerial government institutions, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), region-owned enterprises (BUMD), and private parties.
“It (public service mall) must provide services that include all licensing services as well as non-licensing services, which are the authority of the central and regional governments, and also become the authority of BUMN, BUMD according to the needs and conditions in each region,” he explained.
The establishment of public service malls is one of the efforts to expedite bureaucratic reform in the country and make public services provided to the community more competitive, faster, easier, and simpler, he said.
Amin then urged all public service officers, especially those in North Sumatra, to utilize technology to realize effective, efficient, and responsive public services.
“The utilization of digital technology in public services will encourage the achievement of effective, efficient, fast, and responsive public services. I hope this will also continue to be accompanied by more professional, effective, efficient, clean, and corruption-free governance,” he remarked. (
