Vietnam and China Red Cross Societies Sign Cooperation Agreement

Hanoi, November 23 – The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VNRC) and the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) have entered into a memorandum of understanding for cooperation from 2023 to 2028. The agreement was signed in Hanoi on November 22, focusing on humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and climate change resilience.

According to Vietnam News Agency, both societies will offer mutual support in disaster situations, engage in international humanitarian aid, and work on improving community resilience to climate change. They plan to conduct healthcare training, share experiences in disaster prevention and response, and facilitate visits and workshops. The VNRC and RCSC will also promote exchanges between their chapters, particularly those in border provinces, and encourage the establishment of twin relations and experience sharing in youth and voluntary activities.

VNRC President Bui Thi Hoa reflected on the significant results of past bilateral cooperation, including disaster response coordination, healthcare activities, training for Red Cross workers, and sustainable forest development projects. She also highlighted the RCSC’s support in Vietnam’s fight against COVID-19 and projects aimed at enhancing community resilience. RCSC Vice President Ping Wang, attending the 11th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Vietnam, expressed optimism that the memorandum will lead to stronger bilateral cooperation in the future.
