Vietnam Showcases Cultural Heritage in Paris Art Performance

Paris – An art performance program themed “Night of Vietnamese Heritage” was organized at the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in Paris on November 17, spotlighting the rich cultural heritage of Vietnam. The event was a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vietnam’s permanent delegation to UNESCO in France.

According to Vietnam News Agency, During the event, delegates had the opportunity to experience a unique art performance by the Viet Bac folk art troupe. Ambassador Le Thi Hong Van, head of Vietnam’s delegation to UNESCO, emphasized in her speech the importance of promoting Vietnamese cultural values and strengths. She expressed gratitude for UNESCO’s support in preserving and promoting heritage and reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to working closely with UNESCO and its member countries. Van highlighted the role of cultural heritage as a source of diversity, creativity, and a driving force for peace, resilience, sustainable development, and inspiration for the future.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung stated that Vietnam views culture as both a goal and a driving force for development, placing it on par with economics, politics, and society. He proudly noted that Vietnam, with over 35 pieces of heritage recognized by UNESCO and cities part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, boasts a diverse and rich culture infused with national identity.

Hung expressed Vietnam’s readiness to exchange experiences and expertise with countries worldwide to enhance the conservation of world heritage values. As an active and responsible member of UNESCO and a candidate for a seat in the World Heritage Committee for the 2023-2027 tenure, Vietnam aims to spread the message and encourage global cooperation in preserving world heritage.

Tamara Rastovac Siamashvili, Chairperson of the Executive Board of UNESCO, commended Vietnam’s active participation in UNESCO’s activities, highlighting its contribution to promoting the diversity of Vietnamese culture. This event in Paris served as a platform to showcase the cultural richness of Vietnam on an international stage.
