Manila, Philippines – A Vietnamese delegation, led by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, participated in the opening of the 31st Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-31) in Manila on November 23. The meeting, attended by 275 parliamentarians from 19 countries in the region, focuses on “Building Resilient Partnerships: Advancing Peace, Prosperity, and Sustainability in the Asia Pacific.” Over four days, the event will concentrate on enhancing resilient partnerships as a cornerstone of regional recovery, with sessions on politics-security, economic and trade issues, and regional cooperation prospects in the Asia-Pacific.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the Vietnamese delegation also took part in the APPF-31 executive committee’s meeting. They are expected to contribute to discussions in the coming days, highlighting the Vietnamese National Assembly’s commitment to multilateral parliamentary diplomacy and reinforcing Vietnam’s role in regional parliamentary mechanisms. Hai is scheduled to deliver a speech on political and security matters on November 24, engage in bilateral meetings, and discuss collaboration with the Philippines on various topics including building an electronic parliament, land management, and the implementation of a global minimum tax. Additionally, the Vietnamese delegation paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his statue in ASEAN Garden in Manila, emphasizing the cultural and historical ties between Vietnam and the Philippines.
