Hanoi: Vietnamese volleyball player Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, popularly known as “Refrigerator,” has not been selected to compete in the upcoming domestic volleyball league. Instead, she will take on a new role as an assistant coach for the LP Bank Ninh Binh team.

According to Thai News Agency, the Vietnamese media outlet Lao Song reported that Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, a key figure in the Vietnam women’s national volleyball team, will not be part of the LP Bank Ninh Binh team’s roster for the second round of the 2025 Vietnam National Volleyball Championship. This decision was made by head coach Tai Thanh Tung and his coaching staff, who determined that Bich Tuyen is not currently in full physical condition due to an injury, which prevents her from participating in the competition as a player.

Local media had previously indicated that there were plans for Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen to serve in a dual capacity as both a player and an assistant coach during the second round of the championship. However, the final decision by the team’s management was to assign her solely to the role of assistant coach, allowing her to concentrate on her recovery and eventual return to the court.
