COPENHAGEN – Vice President VO Thi Anh Xuan of Vietnam met with Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik in Copenhagen on November 22, as part of her official visit to Denmark. The meeting focused on enhancing the Vietnam-Denmark comprehensive partnership, particularly in green initiatives.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Frederik expressed his belief that Xuan’s visit would strengthen the partnership between the two countries. He suggested continued cooperation and mutual support to implement agreements within the Green Strategic Partnership framework. This partnership was approved earlier by Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen. Xuan highlighted the significance of Frederik’s visit to Vietnam last year as a symbol of the strong friendship and political trust between the two nations. She called for further support from Denmark’s Royal Family and Government in helping Vietnam achieve its commitments to the Just Energy Transition Partnership, the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Xuan also requested support from Danish organizations for Vietnam’s green transition and urged Danish businesses to invest in renewable energy and green growth sectors in Vietnam. She thanked Denmark for assisting over 16,000 Vietnamese people in integrating into the host society, thus contributing to bilateral relations. Frederik supported Danish enterprises launching projects in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta and encouraged expansion into other areas. Both leaders agreed on the need for regular cultural, educational, and people-to-people exchanges, especially among the youth.

Later that day, Xuan met with representatives from major Danish businesses in processing, manufacturing, and renewable energy. The firms acknowledged Vietnam’s efforts in improving the investment environment and agreed that the Vietnam-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership would create opportunities for foreign investment in sustainable development and green transition. Xuan reaffirmed Vietnam’s focus on attracting quality foreign direct investment, targeting high-tech and sustainable development projects.
