Bangkok: Wan Nor proposed a proposal in five languages to the Thai Parliament, adhering to international humanitarian law, supporting a ceasefire and seeking a bilateral resolution, hoping to use the legislative forum to allow the Thai and Cambodian people to return to normal and peaceful life as soon as possible.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, President of the National Assembly, presented the Thai Parliament’s approach to the Thai-Cambodian situation in five languages: Thai, English, Korean, Spanish, and Arabic. The content of the proposal consisted of three main points. Firstly, the Thai Parliament adheres to the principles of the United Nations, international law, international humanitarian practice, and ASEAN principles.
Secondly, the Parliament supports the ceasefire agreement between the two sides and encourages the pursuit of a peaceful resolution through existing bilateral channels. Lastly, the Thai Parliament emphasizes its non-partisan stance, expressing hope for a constructive use of the legislative forum to ease tensions between the governments and people of both countries, facilitating a swift return to normal and peaceful life.
Previously, Mr. Wan Muhammad Nor, in his capacity as Chairman of the Thai National Unit of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), prepared a petition urging Cambodia to cease disseminating false information and to comply with the ceasefire agreement. This petition was also prepared in five languages: Chinese, Indonesian, Italian, French, and Russian.
