Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has announced thunderstorms and strong winds in some areas of Thailand, with heavy rain in some areas of 19 provinces. Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of possible thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain due to a low-pressure area covering upper Vietnam, coupled with the southwest monsoon still prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, for the upper Andaman Sea, waves are moderate with 1-2 meters high. In areas with thunderstorms, waves are higher than 2 meters. Boat operators in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to proceed with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.
The regional weather forecast indicates that Bangkok and surrounding areas will experience thunderstorms in 40% of the area, with strong winds in some areas. The Northern Region is expected to see thunderstorms across 70% of the area, with heavy rain anticipated in certain provinces. Meanwhile, the Northeastern Region is expected to experience thunderstorms across 40% of the area, with heavy rain in select locations.
In the Central Region, thunderstorms are anticipated in 40% of the area, with strong wind gusts in some areas. The Eastern Region will also have thunderstorms in 40% of the area, with strong wind gusts in some parts. The Southern Region, both the East and West Coasts, is expected to see thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with heavy rain predicted in certain provinces.
Boat operators and residents across these regions are urged to stay informed about the weather conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety in light of the forecasted weather disturbances.
