Busan: Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of collaboration between China and the United States to maintain stable bilateral relations during discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump. The meeting underscored the need for both nations to work together to ensure the steady progression of China-U.S. relations.
According to Thai News Agency, Xi Jinping highlighted that since President Trump’s re-election, the two leaders have maintained frequent communication, including three phone conversations and letter exchanges, contributing to the overall stability of China-U.S. relations. He noted that during recent talks in Kuala Lumpur, both nations’ economic and trade teams reached a basic consensus on addressing significant bilateral economic and trade issues, which set the stage for the current meeting.
Xi acknowledged that the two countries’ differing circumstances might lead to occasional disagreements, which is normal for the world’s two largest economies. He emphasized that China’s development aligns with Trump’s “Making America Great Again” agenda. Both leaders, as steering figures of China-U.S. relations, should navigate through challenges and ensure the relationship remains on a steady course.
Furthermore, Xi stressed the importance of achieving tangible outcomes that benefit both nations and the global community. He noted President Trump’s dedication to resolving pressing regional issues and highlighted China’s efforts in promoting peace talks to address a range of challenges. He suggested that China and the United States, as major global powers, should share responsibilities in tackling worldwide difficulties.
Xi concluded by expressing his commitment to guiding the bilateral relationship alongside President Trump to achieve more substantial and mutually beneficial results. The meeting took place after Xi’s arrival in Busan for the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju, South Korea, as part of his official visit to the country.
