Sukhothai: The Yom River overflowed the embankment, causing sandbags to collapse and flood communities in Sukhothai Municipality. Officials rushed to help evacuate people from the communities.
According to Thai News Agency, the flood situation in Sukhothai Province worsened as the Yom River overflowed in several areas of Mueang Sukhothai District. In the Khuha Suwan, Le Thai, Khlong Pho, and Ruam Phatthana communities, rescue workers from the Sukhothai Provincial Internal Security Operations Command, the 39th Military Circle, and Sawang Boriboon Rescue Volunteers assisted in evacuating people and pets to an evacuation center.
On the riverbank behind Wat Pak Kwae in Mueang Sukhothai District, sandbags intended to block the flood wall collapsed, leading to 30 cm high flooding on Charoenwithithong Road, stretching over 200 meters. Officials from various agencies swiftly used sandbags and large bags to repair the affected areas.
Sukhothai Province has issued a warning to residents in Mueang Sukhothai District, on both sides of the Yom River, and at-risk areas in Sukhothai Thani Municipality, Pak Kwae Subdistrict, advising them to move belongings to higher ground and evacuate, particularly patients, to shelters as soon as possible.
