Buriram: The mother of a young soldier is deeply saddened, expressing her sorrow that her son did not achieve his dreams. The funeral of Private Phithuyut, also known as Noi Soda, a 20-year-old soldier from the 23rd Regiment, Battalion 4, Buriram, took place after he succumbed to a chronic illness while on duty at Prasat Ta Muen Thom in Surin Province. Originally scheduled to be held at the family home in Ban Khok Sri Phatthana, the funeral was moved to Wat Nong Kong due to space constraints.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Primprao Janket, the mother of the deceased soldier, traveled from Phitsanulok province to attend her son’s funeral. She shared her emotional account of her son’s frequent phone calls during his service, including one on Mother’s Day, August 12th, when he called her at 8:10 PM to wish her well and transferred 500 baht. Despite his cheerful demeanor during a video call, Ms. Primprao sensed a premonition in his words, as he reassured her not to worry about her own mortality.
Ms. Primprao recounted her son’s aspirations, stating that he had planned to take the sergeant exam. He had promised that if he passed, he would visit her in his military uniform to make her proud. She expressed her deep regret that her son’s dream remained unfulfilled, as they continued to communicate over the phone until she received the heartbreaking news of his passing.
