Bangkok: 146 MPs have declared their support for Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, as the 32nd Prime Minister. This development includes support from a diverse group of parties, with Sakda bringing 8 Pheu Thai MPs to join forces.
According to Thai News Agency, the coalition backing Anutin consists of 68 members from the Bhumjaithai Party, 31 from the Kla Tham Party, 17 from the Palang Pracharath Party, 16 from the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, 8 from the Pheu Thai Party, 3 from the Thai Sang Thai Party, and 3 from the Democrat Party, totaling 146 members. Notably, the Justice Party, which verbally pledged support, was not included in this count, as only formally signed members are considered.
The Democrat Party initially supported two candidates, Sanphet Bunyamanee and Somyot Plaiduang, both MPs for Songkhla. Recently, Rachit Sudphum, an MP for Nakhon Si Thammarat, was also included in the party’s support list. During the press conference for the government formation by the Bhumjaithai Party, several political parties participated, although MPs from Mr. Peerapan Salirathavipak’s group, from the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, were absent.
Representatives from the Palang Pracharath Party, led by Chaimongkol Chairob and Santi Promphat, joined the event with MPs from Phetchabun. The Kla Dharma Party, led by Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao and other senior leaders, also participated, emphasizing their commitment to the coalition.
MPs from the Pheu Thai Party, including Sakda Wichiensin, Nuchnat Charuwongsathian, Somyot Plaiduang, and Sanphet Bunyamanee, attended the Bhumjaithai Party’s press conference to announce the government formation. This marks their first official media appearance since indicating a reluctance to join the Bhumjaithai Party in a government coalition.
