Bangkok: Bhumjaithai Party submits agenda for selecting Prime Minister to the Speaker of the House after Anutin announced the formation of a minority government.
According to Thai News Agency, Chaiyachanok Chidchob, Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, led party executives, including Phradon Prisananantakul, MP for Ang Thong, Mr. Jessada Thaiset, MP for Uthai Thani, Mr. Thanayot Thimsuwan, MP for Loei, Mr. Charat Ratchakitprakarn, MP for party list, Mr. Sangkhom Daengchot, MP for Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Mr. Siriwat Khajornprasat, MP for Phichit, to submit 146 names to House Speaker Wan Muhammad Noor Matha for the prime ministerial vote. This move follows Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul’s announcement of the formation of a minority government.
Mr. Chaichanok stated after submitting a request to the Speaker of the House of Representatives to include the agenda for selecting a new Prime Minister that the Speaker of the House of Representatives responded and confirmed that he would proceed in accordance with the Constitution.
When asked if the Speaker of the House of Representatives had announced when the agenda would be included, Mr. Chaichanok said the Speaker of the House of Representatives would proceed to its fullest extent, as long as it complies with the Constitution. He added that he would have to wait for a conclusion on what the Speaker of the House of Representatives would do.
Regarding the Speaker of the House of Representatives’ stance on whether he will delay the matter, as many have noted, Mr. Chaichanok said to wait and see. He also sees the matter as urgent and the country needs a government. He added, “We’ll have to wait and see how he proceeds.”
