Bangkok: “Seri Pisut” leader, Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth Temiyawes, has expressed his belief that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will not attend the Supreme Court hearing scheduled for June 13. This statement follows the submission of significant evidence regarding Thaksin’s treatment at the Police General Hospital.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chanchai Issarasenarak, a former Democrat Party MP, along with several notable individuals including Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth, submitted petitions and evidence to the Supreme Court. The documents pertain to Thaksin’s hospitalization on the 14th floor of the Police General Hospital during his detention, an issue that has prompted the court to schedule an investigation.
Mr. Chanchai highlighted the importance of the Supreme Court’s investigation into whether its verdicts have been properly executed. He emphasized that although his petition was dismissed, the court has gathered various agencies to provide clarifications. Despite not being summoned for further clarifications, Mr. Chanchai prepared documents to submit to the court, including petitions from Mr. Somchai Saengkaew and Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth.
The legal grounds for the complaint, as stated by Mr. Chanchai, are rooted in the regulations of the Supreme Court President. These regulations allow any individual aware of a final sentence that has not been executed to file a complaint. This process is not politically motivated but aims to address concerns about justice and the credibility of the legal system.
Mr. Somchai Saengkaew, former Senator, added that the 222-page document submitted to the NACC details the suspicious circumstances surrounding Thaksin’s 181-day hospital stay. The court has been requested to investigate medical records, treatment receipts, and CCTV footage related to Thaksin’s hospitalization.
Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth reiterated his intention to reveal the truth, expressing concern over potential national unrest should Thaksin continue to influence the country. He mentioned that Thaksin’s absence from court on June 13 would not be due to an escape, considering the impact on his daughter, Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra.
Mr. Tul Sitthisomwong and Mr. Nitithorn Lamluea further elaborated on the petitions, focusing on the discrepancies in Thaksin’s medical condition and the suspension of his sentence. The documentation aims to provide a comprehensive timeline of events and gather testimonies from various officials and agencies.
