Accelerating ASO Penetration, Kominfo Distributes STB Assistance to Muara Bangka Hulu Residents

Bengkulu, Kominfo –  The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology handed   over 250 units of Set Top Box (STB) assistance to residents in Bentiring Permai Village, Muara Bangka Hulu District, Bengkulu City.

Special Staff to the Minister of Communication and Information for Political Communication, Philip Gobang explained that the distribution of the STB was a form of the Government’s commitment with the Multiplexing (MUX) organizer in Bengkulu, namely the Emtek SCM Group in carrying out the mandate of Law No. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation.

“The distribution of STB carried out today is a manifestation of the government’s commitment to implementing Law No. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation, the Post, Telecommunications and Broadcasting sectors hold an  Analog Switch Off  (ASO), a change from the Analog to Digital Broadcasting System,” explained Stafsus Philip. Gobang in the Implementation of the STB Distribution Trial from the Emtek SCM Group Bengkulu 1 Service Area  at the Indosiar Bengkulu Transmission Station,  Wednesday (09/03/2022).

The Special Staff of the Minister of Communications and Informatics for Political Communication stated that one of the important pillars of ASO implementation was the availability of STB for the entire community.

“Migration from analog to digital is a necessity, we are taking part in a step of change. This marks a great commitment from all Broadcasting Institutions to provide digital broadcast receivers, namely STB,” he said.

According to Stafsus Philip Gobang, the Government hopes that the implementation of ASO will be a driving force for regional economic progress. Migration to digital TV broadcasting will make it possible

availability and frequency openness for high-speed internet access. In turn, it will be utilized for the development of local potential and productive businesses.

“The government continues to build digital infrastructure. The main advantage of switching to digital TV is that the frequency can be used for high-speed internet according to people’s needs. It can advance all the potential and productive businesses of the local area,” he explained.

In the same event, the Head of the Central Bengkulu Communication and Information Office, Rahmat Apriadi said he was ready to support the government’s program for the migration of analog TV to digital TV.

“In addition to good pictures, later the network can be used for 5G internet. The Central Bengkulu Kominfo Service is also committed to massively socializing it to the local community,” he said.

Then the Director of the Emtek SCM Group, Imam Sudjarwo, explained that the distribution of STB was intended so that the public could enjoy digital TV broadcasts. According to him, the Bengkulu 1 Service area covers Bengkulu City and Central Bengkulu Regency.

“SCM as the organizer of MUX in Bengkulu provides for residents or families registered in the DTKS data,” he explained.

According to the schedule, the Government through the Ministry of Communication and Informatics will stop broadcasting analog television in Bengkulu Province on April 30, 2022.

“As an initial stage, it will be implemented in Bengkulu City and Central Bengkulu Regency. Towards the first phase of ASO, how the technical installation of STB in the field will be tested today. So that on the day of ASO the tools can be installed properly,” explained Imam Sudjarwo.

The event was also attended by the Head of the Central KPI, Agung Suprio; Deputy Chairman of the Central KPI, Mulyo Hadi; the head of the Bengkulu KPID, Fonika Thoyib; Head of Bengkulu Monitoring Center, Budiarto; Head of RRI Station, Nenny Afrantiny; and Secretary of the Bengkulu City Social Service, Yunita Ria. In addition, the Corporate Secretary of the SCM, SCTV, and Indosiar Groups, Gilang Iskandar and the Head of RRI Bengkulu Station, Nenny Afrantiny were also present.
