STB Distribution Trial, Citizens: More Diverse and Quality Broadcasts

Bengkulu Tengah, Kominfo – Ministry of Communication and Information Technology begins the Test of Distribution of Set Top Boxes (STB) in Bengkulu Service Area 1. Distribution of STB to poor households (RTM) in Bengkulu City and Central Bengkulu Regency is a collaboration with Multiplexing Operators (MUX) in Bengkulu Emtek SCM Group.

The special staff of the Minister of Communication and Information for Political Communication, Philip Gobang, the migration of Analog television (TV) to Digital TV is part of the nation’s history which was started by Proclaimer Soekarno in Bengkulu. Through digital TV broadcasts, according to him, the content of TV shows will be more diverse and of high quality

“We have to switch from analog to digital, this shows that Indonesia is following major changes in the world of digitalization. (As) the history of the Indonesian nation which began with Bung Karno when he lived in Bengkulu,” he said during the STB Distribution Trial Implementation from the Emtek SCM Group Bengkulu 1 Service Area at the Indosiar Bengkulu Transmission Station, Wednesday (09/03/2022).

The Special Staff of the Minister of Communications and Informatics for Political Communication stated that the moment of STB distribution marked the participation of the community in every step of the change.

“Of course, the trials carried out by the SCM group in the distribution of STB also mark a great commitment from all broadcasters which started today in Bengkulu,” he said.

According to Stafsus Philip Gobang, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics will continue to provide stimulus to the public so that they can benefit from the migration to digital TV.

“Digital TV migration is also an economic benefit for society in general, namely the so-called digital dividend that is obtained from the migration of analog TV broadcasts to digital. This can support the growth of the digital economy,” he explained.

The Special Staff of the Minister of Communications and Informatics for Political Communication confirmed that the STB distribution trial was carried out so that analog TV sets could capture digital TV broadcast signals.

“That way we can watch broadcasts that appear with clean images, clear sound with sophisticated technology. Clean, clear, sophisticated. This is an important message that we can enjoy from today onwards,” he said.

The staff of Philip Gobang directly inspected the installation of free STBs at the homes of residents of Taba Jambu Village, Kec. Pondok Kubang, Central Bengkulu Regency. There are 250 units prepared for the poor household category.

Eli Eliawati (52), one of the residents who received the free STB assistance, said that before using STB, they only received RTV broadcasts. He admitted that after the installation of the STB, the number of TV broadcasts that could be watched increased with excellent picture and sound quality.

“Before installing the STB, we could only watch RTV broadcasts. If other broadcasts many ants. Now it’s got a lot of broadcasts. The picture is clear and the sound is clear,” he said.

The resident of Taba Jambu Village expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and the EMTEK SCM Group for providing STB for free.

“Thank you to Kominfo and the SCM EMTEK group for giving us STB for free,” said Eli.
