Kuala lumpur: Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has arrived in Kuala Lumpur to prepare for a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet this afternoon.
According to Thai News Agency, at 1:40 PM local time, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, Government Spokesperson and a member of the Committee on the Special Task Force on the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation, announced that Phumtham, along with key officials including Mr. Maris Sengiampong, Minister of Foreign Affairs, General Nataphol Nakphanit, Deputy Minister of Defense, and Dr. Prommin Lertsuridej, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, arrived following an invitation from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as the Chair of ASEAN.
The delegation is scheduled to participate in an informal meeting regarding the Thai-Cambodian border situation at the Prime Minister’s Residence in Malaysia at approximately 3:00 PM Kuala Lumpur time. Mr. Chirayu expressed that the Thai government is pleased with the sincerity of the discussions and the mutual commitment to seeking a peaceful resolution within the ASEAN framework. He reiterated Thailand’s stance on achieving lasting peace based on respect for sovereignty, friendship, and cooperation between the peoples of Thailand and Cambodia.
