Bangkok: Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and his wife presided over a merit-making alms-giving ceremony to honor His Majesty the King on the occasion of his birthday, which falls on July 28, 2025. The event took place early in the morning at the Sanam Luang Ceremonial Ground.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony began at 7:00 a.m., with Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, leading the proceedings alongside his wife, Mrs. Aphinya Wechayachai. They presented Buddhist offerings and robes to 10 Somdej Phra Rajakhana and other senior monks. Following that, rice and dried food were offered to 174 monks and novices. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including members of the Privy Council, the President of the Senate, the President of the Supreme Court, and other high-ranking officials and their spouses.
At 8:00 a.m., Mr. Phumtham presided over an oath-taking ceremony pledging loyalty and dedication as civil servants in front of the royal portrait. In his address, Mr. Phumtham expressed joy and delight in coming together to honor His Majesty the King on his birthday. He highlighted the King’s dedication and service to the nation, which serves as a role model for all civil servants.
The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Royal Anthem and the King’s Anthem. Later, Mr. Phumtham and the Cabinet members proceeded to the Grand Palace to sign a book of best wishes for His Majesty the King at the Red Room, Royal Household Bureau Building 904.
