Anutin Charnvirakul Begins Transition Amid Political Shifts

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has confirmed that he has begun packing up his office at the Ministry of Interior and the Deputy Prime Minister’s room at Government House. Anutin, who has experienced multiple transitions in his political career, including the coup d’©tat in 2006, is preparing for yet another change.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin disclosed these details following a meeting of the Economic Stimulus Policy Committee at the Bhakdi Bordin Building. He mentioned that he has moved in and out of governmental offices several times over his career, citing the 2006 coup as a particularly abrupt transition. Despite the current developments, Anutin emphasized that he has not yet discussed his plans with the Prime Minister.

Questions have arisen regarding the potential resignation of Bhumjaithai Party members from their positions, including Paradorn Prisananantakul, the second deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, and Karom Polpornklang, deputy government spokesman. Anutin stated that Paradorn has already informed him of his decision to resign, noting that such decisions are personal and cannot be compelled.

Anutin reiterated that he has not had any discussions with the Prime Minister about these matters, emphasizing that their recent encounter at an economic meeting did not allow for such conversations. Anutin also addressed inquiries about his demeanor, attributing his appearance to an early morning boat trip from Pathum Thani to Nonthaburi Province.
