Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, expressed confidence in retaining control over the Ministry of Interior following a meeting with Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra at the Thai Khu Fah Building. The discussion, which spanned over an hour, focused on work-related matters, particularly the need for intensified efforts to address drug issues nationwide.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin emphasized that the conversation with the Prime Minister did not touch upon a potential cabinet reshuffle. Anutin affirmed that the Ministry of Interior remains under his jurisdiction and dismissed concerns regarding any disruptions due to alleged collusion within the Senate. He stated that these allegations would not affect the operational dynamics of the ministry.
Anutin assured that no discussions about a cabinet reshuffle had taken place and that his meeting with the Prime Minister was purely work-oriented. He reiterated that the Ministry of Interior’s focus would continue to be on implementing policies to combat drug-related problems, in alignment with the Prime Minister’s directives.
The meeting also addressed issues concerning the selection of senators, with Anutin clarifying that the allegations were unfounded and that any necessary clarifications would be handled according to factual evidence. He expressed confidence that these matters would not impede his political journey or the functionality of the ministry.
Anutin highlighted his ongoing collaboration with the Prime Minister and underscored the importance of maintaining a stable working relationship within the coalition government. He dismissed rumors of a cabinet reshuffle, asserting that such political movements are part of the normal ebb and flow of governmental operations.
In response to inquiries about the standing of the Bhumjaithai Party within the coalition, Anutin stated that the party remains cooperative and focused on its responsibilities. He also addressed the atmosphere within the coalition, noting that as long as there is harmony between him and the Prime Minister, the government’s operational efficiency would remain intact.
