Anutin Declines to Address Somsak’s Veto on Medical Council Resolution

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, formerly the Minister of Public Health, avoided commenting on Somsak Thepsuthin’s decision to veto the Medical Council’s resolution. This resolution involved punitive measures against three doctors who treated Thaksin Shinawatra on the 14th floor while allegedly singing the song “Please don’t ask who I was in the past.”

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin cited the lyrics of the song Jongrak in response to inquiries about the veto, saying, “Please don’t ask who I was in the past. Just know that now I love you and I will love you forever.” When pressed further about whom he loves, Mr. Anutin expressed affection for the Prime Minister, noting their long-standing relationship since childhood, which has now evolved into a professional rapport.

Discussing his relationship with the Prime Minister, Mr. Anutin clarified that their bond is not flirtatious but rather a respectful working relationship. He mentioned that despite their close ties, he always refers to him as the Prime Minister, never using familiar terms from the past.

When questioned about a leaked conversation in the Medical Council Line group regarding Mr. Thaksin and its potential influence on the veto, Mr. Anutin stated he was unaware of such details and the circumstances surrounding the incident. When further asked if he could have vetoed the decision as a former health minister, Mr. Anutin reiterated his focus on singing Jong Rak and diverted the conversation by inquiring about the reporter’s meal.
