Bangkok: Bhumjaithai Party spokesman confirms “Anutin” has never offered himself and shown any intention to run for prime minister, as the Pheu Thai Party has alluded to.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai, Ubon Ratchathani MP and Bhumjaithai Party spokesperson, addressed the public regarding discussions about the formation of a new government. She emphasized that the Bhumjaithai Party remains committed to its role as an opposition party, focusing on legislative duties, addressing public concerns, and overseeing government actions.
Ms. Nan Bunthida clarified that Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has neither offered himself nor expressed any intention to pursue the role of Prime Minister, countering claims from members of the Pheu Thai Party. She reassured that there is no need for the Pheu Thai Party to be concerned about potential competition for the Prime Minister’s position. She stated that as long as the government performs well, no competition should arise.
Currently, Thailand’s political situation remains stable, with a Prime Minister in place who is temporarily not fulfilling duties. The Bhumjaithai Party has not proposed any governmental formation strategies but is open to collaborating with other political parties to ensure the parliamentary system remains a key mechanism for addressing political challenges. The party believes that Thai politics will continue to progress without reaching an impasse.
Regarding the People’s Party’s proposal, it is seen as an effort to reinforce the parliament’s role in resolving national issues while maintaining the democratic system, with the King as head of state. The Bhumjaithai Party intends to evaluate this proposal when the appropriate time comes.
The Bhumjaithai Party has its own strategy, which it plans to share with the public and other political entities for future consideration, as stated by the party spokesperson.
