CAAT Approves AOT’s New Service Rates to Boost Revenue Collection

Bangkok: Ms. Paweena Jariyathitipong, Acting Director-General of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), announced that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has approved new service rates for the 400 Hz electrical system and the PC-AIR air conditioning system. These systems are integral to the Ground Service Equipment and Maintenance Facility services at Suvarnabhumi Airport's Secondary Concourse 1 (SAT-1). The current service rates apply only within the airport's Main Terminal Building and do not yet cover the new SAT-1 building. Airlines require these services when docking at the terminal, which is expected to enhance service efficiency and support the growth of air travel.

According to Thai News Agency, since AOT began offering these systems on September 28, 2023, approximately 30 airlines have been using SAT-1 monthly. With around 2,000 flights per month, AOT anticipates generating over 300 million baht annually from these services, with potential for further revenue growth as more airlines opt for the service. Ms. Paweena highlighted that the fees collected from the 400 Hz electrical system and the PC-AIR air conditioning system at SAT-1 represent an additional source of non-aeronautical revenue. This aligns with the increasing number of airlines using Suvarnabhumi Airport each year, enhancing revenue stream efficiency.

Furthermore, these services are consistent with global airport practices, contributing to reduced energy consumption and emissions, and minimizing noise pollution from generators while aircraft are parked. AOT aims to address environmental and community concerns, fostering long-term sustainable development and preparing Suvarnabhumi Airport to become a regional aviation hub.
