Bangkok: The Cabinet has resolved to assign four deputy prime ministers to act as prime ministers in succession, without discussing the dissolution of parliament. Chusak Sirinil, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, confirmed this development following a Cabinet meeting.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chusak Sirinil revealed that the Cabinet meeting resulted in the appointment of four Deputy Prime Ministers to act in the capacity of the prime minister, in the event of the prime minister’s inability to perform duties. The appointed deputies are Mr. Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Minister of Transport; Mr. Pirapan Salirathavipak, Minister of Energy; Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Minister of Finance; and Mr. Prasert Chantarawongthong, Minister of Digital Economy and Society. These officials will continue to perform their regular duties alongside this new responsibility.
It was confirmed that the agenda of dissolving Parliament was not part of the Cabinet meeting’s discussions. The meeting was described as a routine session, focusing on various administrative appointments and legislative approvals.
Additionally, the Cabinet appointed political officials necessary for coordination and document reception within the Office of the Prime Minister. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap was reaffirmed as the Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson.
The Cabinet also approved a draft Act aimed at enhancing national capacity for targeted industries. This legislation focuses on promoting tax incentives and encouraging foreign investment in Thailand. The draft will be reviewed by the Council of State before being submitted to the House of Representatives.
The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security’s concerns about compliance with the 2007 Act on the Promotion of Persons with Disabilities were acknowledged. With 2,206,343 disabled people in the country and only 18,000 employed, efforts will be made to categorize disabled individuals to promote employment according to specified requirements.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the central budget for several urgent projects, including a milk supplement initiative in private schools.
