Cambodia Forces People to Sleep Outside Amid Thai Ghost Sounds

Sa kaeo: The Thai-Cambodian border in Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province, has maintained its calm after a night filled with eerie sounds emanating from the Thai side. An IoT team from Cambodia visited the border region, contributing to a serene morning with no large gatherings from either nation.

According to Thai News Agency, the previous night saw the Thai side broadcasting chilling sounds along the border as a psychological strategy targeting the Cambodian side. This response followed earlier protest activities. Meanwhile, a Cambodian IoT team surveyed the area opposite Nong Ya Kaeo village, which resulted in a peaceful atmosphere on both sides by morning, with no signs of public gatherings or mass protests.

Officials observed an increased volume of vehicles entering and exiting Nong Chok and Nong Ya Kaew villages throughout the morning. While this is suspected to involve local residents and officials, it remains unclear if specific groups are involved. The Burapha Task Force used drones for high-angle
surveys, confirming that activities in the villages appeared normal, and only five Cambodian soldiers were stationed at the border, maintaining their usual duties without additional personnel.

Reports suggest that Cambodian soldiers might have been fatigued due to the nighttime disturbances from the Thai side, with no troop rotation occurring in the morning. In response, Thai officials have established 24-hour border patrols to prevent further tensions and are closely monitoring movements of protesters from both sides. The period from noon to evening is anticipated to be crucial for observing any potential protester movements from Cambodia, following attempts to rally near the border last week to pressure Thailand to release detained Cambodian soldiers. The situation at the Thai-Cambodian border in Khok Sung District remains peaceful, with security forces and the Burapha Force prepared to manage any developments.
