Celebrities’ Alleged Donations to Kan Jom Phalang Foundation Debunked

Bangkok: A recent investigation has revealed that claims of celebrities donating large sums of money to the Kan Jom Phalang Foundation are false. The Sure Before Share Center found that these misleading claims and images were circulated in a Facebook group called “Kan Jom Phalang News,” which boasts over 322,000 members.

According to Thai News Agency, the group used images of notable figures to assert that they had contributed between 500,000 to 1,000,000 baht to the foundation. Among the fabricated images, one was a composite of His Majesty King Chikmeh Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, edited to suggest a connection with the powerful king. Another image, supposedly depicting Dr. Julius Robert Oppenheimer, was identified as AI-generated, with noticeable flaws such as unnatural floating and the historical inaccuracy of featuring a person who passed away in 1967.

The investigation also identified an AI-generated image of footballer Erling Haaland, where inconsistencies included mismatched facial features and unreada
ble text on a donation sign. Additionally, a photo of Naomi Watanabe, taken at a Tiffany and Co. event, was falsely used to claim her support for the foundation.

Mr. Kan Chom Phalang addressed the issue on his Facebook page, confirming that the group is “fake, created by fraudsters,” and cautioned the public to be wary of deception.
