Meteorological Department Issues Warning for Heavy Rain in Southern Thailand and Cool Weather in the North

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department warns of heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of the South. Northern Thailand will experience cool weather in the morning, with temperatures dropping slightly and strong winds.

According to Thai News Agency, the heavy rainfall in the South is attributed to the monsoon trough passing through the central South and the northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf of Thailand and the South. Residents in the southern regions, particularly in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, and Pattani provinces, are urged to be cautious of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and accumulated rainfall. Caution is advised when traveling through flooded areas. Additionally, mariners should be wary of the expected one-meter-high waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, with waves potentially exceeding two meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms.

In contrast, upper Thailand will experience cooler weather in the morning. This change in temperature, accompanied by strong winds, is due to a moderate high-pressure area from China extending over the northern and northeastern regions. Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions for their health amidst the changing weather conditions.

Tropical Storm Fengshen, currently located in the upper South China Sea, is anticipated to make landfall in central Vietnam today. The storm is expected to weaken rapidly and is not predicted to move into Thailand, thanks to a cold air mass from China spreading over northern Vietnam and the upper South China Sea.
