Bangkok: The inaugural meeting of the House of Representatives’ Special Committee to examine the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) 2000 and 2001 concluded with Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob, MP for Buriram and Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, being appointed as the committee chairman.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sanong Thep-Aksornnarong, MP for Buriram from the Bhumjaithai Party, temporarily presided over the meeting due to his seniority, setting the stage for the election of key committee positions. During the nominations, Mr. Worasit Liangprasit, also from the Bhumjaithai Party, put forward Mr. Chaichanok for the role of committee chairman. Assistant Professor Akkarapong Kamkhun nominated Mr. Prasat Prasatwinitchai, a former Ambassador to Phnom Penh, who subsequently withdrew his nomination, resulting in Mr. Chaichanok’s appointment.
The meeting proceeded with the selection of vice-chairmen, where Mr. Jakrapob Penkhae, a former advisor to the Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, was elected as the First Deputy Chairman over Mr. Srisutphong Kiewkhong, MP for Krabi from the Bhumjaithai Party. Mr. Srisutphong assumed the role of Second Deputy Chairman. Additional appointments included Mr. Supachai Chaisaj of the Prachachon Party as the Third Vice Chairman, and Mom Luang Koraksiwat Kasemsri of the Palang Pracharath Party as the Fourth Vice Chairman, among others.
Mr. Chaichanok expressed appreciation for the support he received and committed to serving impartially. He emphasized the collective aim of the committee to identify solutions that benefit the public and the nation, confident in the committee’s ability to work collaboratively towards effective outcomes.
