Chao Phraya River Overflows, Breaching Dams and Flooding Ang Thong Province

Ang thong: Water levels in the Chao Phraya River continue to rise, eroding the protective dam at the Ang Thong Provincial Government Center. Water is gushing out of the dam’s surface in several areas.

According to Thai News Agency, water levels in the Chao Phraya River have continued to rise, eroding the eastern bank of the embankment near the Ang Thong Provincial Government Center. This has caused widespread water to gush over the embankment, including under the bridge in front of the provincial hall. Large amounts of water have breached the concrete embankment. Municipal officials and soldiers have deployed sandbags to plug leaks. Meanwhile, at Wat Ton Son in Mueang Ang Thong District, significant water is seeping into the area in front of the Phra Sri Mueang Thong and Phra Sri Mueang Ngoen temples. Officials are urgently installing additional water pumps to drain the water.

While the water level in the Chao Phraya River flowing through Ang Thong Province is currently at 9.18 meters above mean sea level, Ang Thong has already experienced flooding in 4 districts, 22 sub-districts, and 81 villages: Muang, Pa Mok, Wiset Chai Chan, and Chaiyo districts. 1,376 houses have been flooded.
