Commander Orders Strict Measures to Address Thai-Cambodian Border Crisis

Bangkok: The Commander-in-Chief of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has mandated the stringent enforcement of plans to safeguard areas following the evacuation of residents amid ongoing tensions on the Thai-Cambodian border. The directive includes measures to protect the rear area, facilitate civilian evacuations, and deliver essential relief supplies to those in need. Additionally, social media influencers have been cautioned against livestreaming events in a manner that could infringe on human rights, as the global community closely observes Thailand’s actions.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop Phuridet, the Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, provided insights into the situation, emphasizing the importance of humanitarian support. He highlighted the implementation of the “Rear Area Protection Plan,” which prioritizes evacuating civilians, transferring injured persons, and coordinating security arrangements with local agencies.

The CIB commander has tasked the Highway Police with leading relief efforts due to their existing presence in the affected area. Coordination with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) has been established to assess additional needs. A convoy of trucks carrying vital supplies, such as drinking water, food, and other consumer goods, is scheduled for dispatch to support these missions as per the MSDHS’s request.

Further, Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop has mobilized officers from the Central Investigation Bureau to donate blood at the Thai Red Cross Society, enhancing medical support for frontline personnel.

In response to a flood disaster in the northern region, the Commander-in-Chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau has directed the Marine Police to assist affected communities, ensuring safe travel and monitoring safety in flood-stricken areas.

Addressing concerns over influencers livestreaming border clashes, Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop urged social media figures to comply with legal standards and respect human rights. He warned against actions that might incite violence or hatred.

The CIB Commissioner-General also advised Thai citizens to exercise caution and avoid using inflammatory language towards individuals from neighboring countries residing in Thailand. Emphasizing adherence to international humanitarian principles, he noted that global scrutiny of the situation could impact Thailand’s international image.
