Constitutional Court Sets Witness Examination Date for July 24 in “Pichet” Transfer of Parliamentary Budget

Bangkok: The Constitutional Court has ordered agencies to submit additional documents concerning the petition of “Pichet” to amend the 2025-2026 budget of the House of Representatives by July 23. A hearing has been scheduled for July 24, where only the parties involved will be allowed to enter the courtroom, with no video or audio broadcast permitted.

According to Thai News Agency, the Constitutional Court ruled on the petition of Mr. Phanthil Nuamchim, MP of the Prachachon Party. Mr. Nuamchim requested the Court to rule under Section 144, paragraph three of the Constitution, regarding Mr. Pichet Chueamuangphan, the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives. Mr. Pichet was involved in organizing and proposing a budget for three projects of the Office of the Secretary of the House of Representatives, with both direct and indirect involvement in the 2025 budget.

Additionally, the Office of the Secretary of the House of Representatives seeks to re-propose all three projects in the 2026 budget as continuous projects, with Mr. Pichet’s involvement in proposing, amending, or taking actions that affect the budget usage.

The Court has ordered relevant agencies or individuals to submit evidence copies on the issues determined by the Constitutional Court by July 23, 2025, to aid in the Court’s consideration and decision-making process.

The examination of witnesses is set for July 24, and only parties and related persons will be allowed to attend. The court will suspend both video and audio broadcasts during the examination, as the individuals testifying are witnesses.
