COVID-19 cases rising in 43 Java-Bali regions: minister

Jakarta There has been an upward trend in COVID-19 cases, particularly in 43 districts and cities in Java-Bali, including Jakarta, in the last seven days, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has said.

In a press conference observed from here on Monday, he said that his ministry will conduct intervention identification in the 43 districts and cities, which comprise 33.6 percent of Java-Bali, to stem the increase in infections.

However, the continuation of PPKM and the government’s weekly evaluation has resulted in better control and improvement in the COVID-19 situation, Pandjaitan, who is also the public activity restriction (PPKM) coordinator for Java-Bali, said.

This can be observed from the COVID-19 transmission, which remains low, he added.
