Bangkok: Decha Isara has announced his resignation as an MP if the Democrat Party aligns with the Bhumjaithai government, expressing that such a move would betray the nation and its citizens.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Decha Isara Khaothong, who serves as the Deputy Minister of the Interior and Secretary-General of the Democrat Party, made this declaration in an interview prior to a Cabinet meeting. He outlined the party’s process in the event of a new government formation, which involves delegating authority to the party leader, Chalermchai Sri-on. However, Decha was firm in his stance that he would resign as an MP should the party opt to join forces with the Bhumjaithai Party, although he has not yet decided whether to leave the Democrat Party altogether.
He elaborated on the reasons behind his decision, pointing to the clarity surrounding the Khao Kradong issue, the allocation of local economic stimulus funds to the Blue Zone, and the perceived collusion between senators. Decha emphasized that joining the Bhumjaithai Party would equate to a betrayal of the nation and its people, hence his resolve to step down.
