Family Awaits Body of Zoo Worker Mauled by Lions

Bangkok: The family is waiting to receive the body of a zoo worker who died in a lion attack for religious rites. At the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police General Hospital, the sister of Mr. Jian, 58, the zookeeper who died after being mauled by a lion, received Mr. Jian’s body for religious rites at Wat Paen Thong Sopharam in Bangkok’s Khlong Sam Wa district. Last night, Safari World issued a statement expressing its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and said it would provide the best possible care to the family.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, which inspected the scene, has ordered the zoo to temporarily suspend its wild animal zone and review its safety plan, which will be submitted to the department for consideration within two days. The cause of the deceased’s exit from the vehicle is under investigation.
