Buriram: The family of Corporal Thirayut Krajangthong, a soldier from Buriram who lost his life in the Thai-Cambodian conflict, organized a spiritual ceremony to invite his spirit back home. This was in line with their beliefs following a dream in which his mother communicated that he was still at the site of his death and unable to return home.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony took place at Wat Pho Sai Thong in Lahan Sai District, Buriram Province. It was held to invite the spirit of Corporal Thirayut Krajangthong, who died during a clash at the Chong Ta Tao base in Sisaket Province on July 28, 2015. Mrs. Tin Krajangthong, the mother of the soldier, shared that her son had appeared in her dreams, expressing that he was trapped at the location of his death. The family, adhering to the traditions of southern Isan, invited monks to conduct the ceremony to bring peace to the spirit and family. Sergeant Thirayut’s personal belongings were used in the ceremony, following an ancient tradition.
In a separate event, 38 Cambodians were arrested for illegally crossing into Thailand through Sa Kaeo Province. The Burapha Force, Aranyaprathet Task Force, and the 12th Ranger Regiment’s Control Unit, 30th Cavalry Battalion, discovered the group hiding in a sugarcane field. These individuals had entered Thailand seeking employment due to economic hardships in Cambodia.
