Bangkok: The Department of Highways has reported that 11 roads remain impassable due to ongoing flooding. This has prompted the Department of Rural Roads to remain vigilant, stationing patrol officers and preparing necessary resources to assist residents during emergencies. The department is actively surveying routes post-flood to expedite restoration for public access.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Montri Dechasakulsom, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, stated that while water levels have decreased in Phrae and Nan provinces, immediate damage assessments are being prioritized. He has tasked local rural road districts and the Rural Roads Office 17 in Chiang Rai with these assessments. Urgent repairs and improvements are underway to reopen roads swiftly. For roads that remain impassable, clear warning signs and safety measures are in place to guide the public away from hazardous areas.
As of the latest report, nine provinces have been affected: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Phrae, Mae Hong Son, Tak, Sukhothai, Kanchanaburi, and Ubon Ratchathani. A total of 39 roads have been impacted, with 28 passable and 11 still closed. Some of the impassable roads include sections in Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, and Sukhothai provinces. The department urges caution and adherence to warning signs and traffic advisories.
