Uthai thani: Floodwaters in communities in Uthai Thani are starting to rot and give off a foul odor. The municipality is rushing to drain the water into the Sakae Krang River. Residents are having a difficult time getting in and out of their homes by boat, as the Sakae Krang River has been inundating them for nearly two weeks. The municipality is using large pumps to quickly drain water into the Sakae Krang River.
According to Thai News Agency, the floodwaters have created significant disruptions for residents who must use boats for daily activities such as running errands, buying food, and sending children to school. The Sakae Krang River has overflowed, particularly affecting low-lying areas like Wat Thammasopit, Khlong Luek, and Tha Rae communities. The floodwaters have reached depths of 50-100 centimeters, with levels either stable or slightly decreasing. However, the stagnant water has turned murky and is emitting a foul odor, complicating the residents’ living conditions further. The municipality has deployed several large water pumps to expedite the drainage of floodwaters into the Sakae Krang River.
