Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping met with King Maha Vajiralongkorn on an official visit to China, emphasizing the importance of building a China-Thailand community with a shared future.
According to Thai News Agency, Xi Jinping highlighted the significance of King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s visit by noting that he was the first Thai monarch to visit China since the establishment of diplomatic relations. This visit underscores the importance the King places on China-Thailand relations and the enduring friendship between the two nations, captured in the sentiment, “China and Thailand are not far away, we are brothers.”
During the meeting, Xi conveyed condolences for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. He acknowledged the longstanding and cordial relationship the Thai royal family has maintained with China, contributing significantly to the friendship between the two countries. Xi expressed China’s deep gratitude for these contributions.
Looking ahead, Xi noted that 2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand, a milestone he referred to as a golden year for their friendship. Over the past fifty years, the two countries have consistently supported each other amidst global changes, maintaining strong ties as relatives, friends, and partners.
Xi expressed his willingness to work with King Maha Vajiralongkorn from this new historical starting point to further develop the China-Thailand community with a shared future over the next fifty years and to continue to strengthen the bond between the two nations.
