FTI Extends Control on 59 Products and Services to Ensure Consumer Fairness

Bangkok: The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) has announced the extension of control over 59 products and services for another year to maintain consumer fairness, confirmed by Pichai Naripthaphan, the Minister of Commerce. This decision emerged from the 2/2568 meeting of the Central Committee on Prices of Goods and Services (CCPG), which Mr. Pichai chaired.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting resolved to extend the control of goods and services covering 11 categories, aligning with the Price of Goods and Services Act B.E. 2542. The list of controlled items includes categories such as paper, electrical appliances, transport equipment, agricultural factors, petroleum products, medicines, construction materials, agricultural products, consumer goods, food, and other services. Notably, the control measures on synthetic polypropylene fibers for producing face masks were canceled due to sufficient raw material availability for domestic needs.

The meeting also decided to expand control areas for the tran
sport of animal feed corn in specific districts, including Chana, Ko Sichang, Bueng Kan City, and Nong Khai City, and to regulate the transport of imported wheat and barley in Ko Sichang District to prevent smuggling. They resolved to maintain the measure of displaying the price of goods and services both online and offline continuously.

Mr. Witthayakorn Maneenet, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, stated that public opinion supports controlling online prices as they impact consumers directly. The department will enforce laws requiring sellers to display prices on platforms. For essential products like ATK test kits, the department is coordinating with importers to support raw material imports and monitor prices.

The public is encouraged to report any instances of undisclosed pricing or overcharging to the Department of Internal Trade hotline at 1569 or to provincial commercial offices nationwide.
