Fugitive Surrenders After Wife’s Drug Arrest

Sadao: A man who evaded capture for three years on a drug-related warrant has turned himself in, driven by his affection for his wife who was recently arrested for drug use.

According to Thai News Agency, soldiers, administrative officers, and police from Sadao Police Station arrived with arrest warrants from the Nathawi Provincial Court targeting a residence in Tambon Prik, Amphoe Sadao. The warrants were for possession of drugs intended for use and sale.

During their operation, the authorities searched a house lacking an official number but failed to locate the primary suspect, 45-year-old Mr. Sathit. It is believed that Mr. Sathit, aware of the impending raid, managed to escape. However, inside the house, officers found Ms. Kanchana, Mr. Sathit’s wife, consuming drugs alongside a companion, Mr. Songphon, aged 34. Both individuals underwent urine tests, which confirmed drug use, resulting in their immediate arrest and transfer to Sadao Police Station.

The search expanded to a second unnumbered house, where the suspect continued to elude capture. Instead, authorities encountered Mr. Antyikhun, 24, whose suspicious behavior led to a confession of drug use, prompting another arrest.

Despite Mr. Sathit’s successful evasion during the operation, the news of his wife’s arrest prompted him to act. He contacted the village headman and surrendered voluntarily, expressing his deep love for his wife of five years, despite occasional conflicts.

The police vowed to continue their efforts to apprehend any remaining suspects and bring them to justice promptly.
