Generals Prepare for Parliamentary Debate on Government Policy and Ministerial Qualifications

Bangkok: The people prepare generals to debate government policy and ministerial qualifications in an upcoming parliamentary session. Mr. Pakornwut Udompipatsakul, a party-list MP and deputy leader of the Prachachon Party, has revealed that the focus will be on scrutinizing the qualifications of ministers, as well as the government’s urgency in addressing its remaining four months in office.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pakornwut, who also serves as the chief whip of the opposition parties, noted that while no specific theme has been set for the debate, the Prachachon Party plans to prioritize content over thematic constraints. The debate panel includes approximately 20 debaters, with key figures such as Mr. Natthaphong Ruangpanyawut, Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, and Mr. Rangsiman Rome leading the charge.

Mr. Pakornwut humorously addressed concerns about potential attacks from the Pheu Thai Party, questioning the media, “What side am I on?” He expressed a preference for engaging in meaningful debate over wasting parliamentary time on declaring government policies. He criticized the Pheu Thai Party’s limited presence in parliamentary meetings and urged the public to assess whether the party’s actions were aimed at scrutinizing the government or attacking others.

When questioned about the Pheu Thai Party’s motives in debating with the People’s Party, Mr. Pakornwut called for media and public analysis on why the party had not been more critical of the Bhumjaithai government. He suggested that emotional factors might be at play but emphasized the importance of using reason to move forward collaboratively.
