Half-Half Thai Travel Program Set to Launch 500,000 Privileges for July 2025

Bangkok: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has unveiled the 'Half-Half Travel' initiative, inviting the public to secure 500,000 travel privileges starting from July 1, 2025, ahead of the travel period commencing on July 4. The program, aimed at encouraging domestic tourism, offers government support on accommodation expenses in major tourist cities. Weekday stays will be subsidized at a rate of 50%, while holiday stays will receive a 40% subsidy, with a cap of 3,000 baht per room per night. Reservations must be made at least three days before travel, and participants will receive a 500 baht e-Coupon for discounts on food and activities upon check-in.

According to Thai News Agency, the program was endorsed by a Cabinet meeting on June 24, 2025, with a budget allocation of 1,760 million baht. This initiative seeks to boost domestic tourism during the Green Season, addressing a slowdown in international tourist arrivals due to global uncertainties. By promoting travel to both major and lesser-known cities, the project aims to enhance the economic flow and support tourism operators across the country. TAT anticipates that the initiative will generate approximately 35,033 million baht in tourism revenue, with over 34,000 operators participating.

TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool stated that the program will offer 500,000 privileges for accommodation and tourism services nationwide. Registration opens on July 1, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. via the Amazing Thailand app, and will continue until October 27, 2025, or until the privileges are exhausted. Eligible participants must be Thai nationals, 18 years or older, with valid ID confirmation through the ThaID application.

Participants can secure up to five accommodation rights, with a first-come, first-served reservation system. The government will subsidize 50% of weekday accommodation costs in major cities and 40% during holidays, with a maximum of 3,000 baht per night. In 55 designated attractive provinces, the subsidy remains 50% for both weekdays and holidays. Accommodations must be booked and paid for by 11:00 p.m. on the booking date, with proof submitted via the Amazing Thailand app to confirm the subsidy.

Upon using the privilege, users receive an e-Coupon worth 500 baht, applicable as a 50% discount on spending at participating establishments. The coupon is valid until 11:00 p.m. the following day, and for multi-night stays, daily check-ins via the app are required to receive the coupon.

Entrepreneurs interested in joining the initiative, such as hotels, restaurants, and tour operators, can register from June 25 to July 31, 2025. As of June 27, 2025, over 34,000 entrepreneurs have registered for the program.
