Hallucinating Man’s Drug-Fueled Rampage Injures Over 10 in Chachoengsao

Bang pakong: A 39-year-old man, hallucinating from drugs, drove around attacking villagers in Bang Pakong District, Chachoengsao Province, injuring more than 10 people. The investigation revealed that he was seeking revenge for the attack on his son. CCTV footage from 11:09 a.m. at a shop at the entrance to Soi Sin Ngok Ngam, Village No. 19, Bang Pakong Subdistrict, shows a bronze-colored pickup truck with Ratchaburi license plates parked in front of the shop. The driver, identified as 39-year-old Phichit, approached a Myanmar man who was out shopping, assaulted him, and accused him of attacking his son before running off to attack another individual nearby.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phichit’s rampage continued as he previously targeted Mr. Yusup, 65, and his son while they were parked on the side of Theparat Road (Bangna-Trad). The pair, who were buying chickens to sell, were physically assaulted, and their motorcycle was damaged when the perpetrator reversed into it. The aggressive spree did not stop there, as Mr. Phichit also attacked Mr. Thanakrit, 30, who was riding a motorcycle near a convenience store.

Reports indicate that Mr. Phichit indiscriminately attacked individuals of Thai, Burmese, and Laotian descent, injuring over 10 people. His violent behavior included parking his car in front of a motorcycle shop, attacking people inside, and causing chaos on the streets before fleeing to a house in Bang Pakong Subdistrict.

Following these events, police apprehended Mr. Phichit and took him to Bang Pakong Police Station for questioning. Despite still being under the influence of drugs and speaking incoherently, he claimed that the victims had worn his son’s shirt and assaulted him, which led to his retaliatory actions. Authorities have initially charged him with drug use and are considering additional charges after interviewing all the victims involved.
