His Majesty the King Monitors Thai-Cambodian Border Conflict Daily

Kasetsart: The 2nd Army Region Commander revealed that His Majesty the King is following the army’s battles on the border and reporting daily. The Second Army Region Commander gave a special lecture at Kasetsart University Demonstration School, revealing that His Majesty the King, the Supreme Commander of the Thai Armed Forces, is accompanying the army in the Thai-Cambodian border conflict, and stating that he will report the situation daily.

According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Area, along with Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvari, Army Spokesperson, gave a special lecture on the Thai-Cambodian border situation and the roles and responsibilities of the Royal Thai Army and all Thai people. Lt. Gen. Boonsin told the children about the situation of the soldiers on the front lines. He told them that if our Thai brothers and sisters fight, our children and grandchildren fight, so do our fellow soldiers. The soldiers told them not to worry about us. They only need the support of the Thai people.

Lt. Gen. Boonsin emphasized the historical spirit of Thai soldiers, saying that when the time comes to embody the spirit of King Naresuan, the readiness of Thai soldiers to fight is unquestionable. The protection of ancestral land remains a priority, and any intrusion on Thai territory will be resisted. He confirmed that the army is not encroaching on any other country and is solely focused on defending Thailand.

His Majesty the King has shown continuous concern by inquiring about the situation with the commanders daily. This longstanding tradition where the King leads the army persists today, ensuring every soldier is prepared to sacrifice for the nation. Lt. Gen. Boonsin reassured that regardless of the situation, the army is ready to either end or continue the fight as necessary.

When asked by a student about his wishes for Thailand, Lt. Gen. Boonsin expressed a desire for a peaceful and prosperous nation, free from conflict. He also addressed a student’s query on Thailand’s response to invasion by stating that the army would act as it has historically done, as evidenced by past actions involving Cambodia.

During the lecture, a student’s mention of F-16s elicited a smile from Lt. Gen. Boonsin, who affirmed their use in defending Thai territory. He explained that if encroachment occurs, the army would respond with appropriate measures to reclaim sovereignty, as mandated by the constitution.

Lt. Gen. Boonsin also shared his perspective on media consumption with the students, urging them to critically evaluate information, especially if it pertains to disunity or slander against the nation, religion, monarchy, or people. He encouraged the youth to uphold the values symbolized by the Thai flag and work towards preserving the nation’s legacy for future generations.
