Husband Leaps Into Action to Rescue Pregnant Wife from Car Theft in Bang Phli

Bang Phli: A 27-year-old man took swift action after being deceived by an online car sales gang, leading to a dramatic rescue of his 8-month pregnant wife who was inside the car being stolen. He managed to jump into the vehicle just in time to ensure her safety.

According to Thai News Agency, surveillance footage from a gas station in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province, captured the incident where two individuals, dressed in yellow and black shirts, took advantage of the victim’s wife and drove away in a pickup truck. The victim, identified as Mr. Manop, immediately pursued the vehicle, climbing onto the back of the truck in a desperate attempt to save his wife.

Mr. Manop later approached the Social Justice Foundation with evidence to file a complaint. He recounted that on May 20, he had contacted a Facebook page to purchase a foreclosed Toyota Rocco for 640,000 baht. The deal required a deposit of 7,000 baht upfront, with the balance to be transferred upon receiving the vehicle. On May 23, he and hi
s pregnant wife met with the sellers at a gas station in Bang Phli. After transferring the remaining 627,000 baht, the situation took a turn when one of the sellers, Mr. Santi, questioned the transaction and drove off with his wife still seated in the car.

In a bold move, Mr. Manop jumped onto the truck’s back, shattered the glass, and entered the vehicle, demanding Mr. Santi to halt. Mr. Santi escaped the scene on foot. Meanwhile, local residents assisted Mr. Manop by providing a motorcycle to pursue the fleeing criminals.

The chaos concluded when Mr. Santi and another accomplice, Mr. Tanongsak, returned to the vehicle, only to be intercepted by officers from Bang Phli Police Station. However, the police identified Mr. Santi and Mr. Tanongsak as the rightful owners of the car, complicating the case. Feeling unjustly treated, Mr. Manop and his wife sought further action from the foundation, believing the police to be unfair in their handling of the case.

On May 27, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., the couple met with P
ol. Col. Pairoj Petchploy, Superintendent of Bang Phli Police Station, seeking updates and lodging additional complaints. They presented evidence including CCTV footage, chat logs, and transaction records, pressing charges for fraud and illegal detention. They also requested a change of investigator, citing threats made by the suspects on social media.
