Immunity: The End of Thais Who Hire Foreign Nominees and Open Mule Accounts

Bangkok: Police raided a turkey party (gay bar) in the Wang Thonglang area, discovering 27 partygoers using drugs. At approximately 01:30 a.m. on July 26, 2025, an integrated police unit from the Children and Women Protection Division (CDPD), Wang Thonglang Police Station, and the Crime Suppression Division, Metropolitan Police Bureau 4, led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commissioner-General of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, conducted an inspection in Soi Ramkhamhaeng 21, Intersection 2, Plap Phla Subdistrict, Wang Thonglang District. The operation followed a tip-off regarding a drug party in the area.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place in a three-storey building covering about 200 square wah. The upper floor housed approximately 40 service rooms, while the lower floor featured a hall equipped with sofas for guests to drink, eat, and sing karaoke. The bar had dim lighting with colorful underwear displayed behind the counter. Upon arrival, officers found 44 male customers aged between 30 and 60 and immediately ordered a halt to all activities. A search of the premises led to the discovery of crystal meth, drug paraphernalia, and intravenous needles, which were subsequently seized. All attendees were subjected to urine tests for drug use.

The investigation revealed that Mr. Witthaya, a 42-year-old counter manager, stated the venue served as a gathering spot for gay customers, charging 250 baht per person. He indicated that the drugs and paraphernalia were brought in by the customers themselves. Pol. Col. Jessada Yangnok, Superintendent of Wang Thonglang Police Station, noted that the venue had been inspected and prosecuted multiple times but continued to operate clandestinely, selling alcohol and facilitating drug use.

Initial urine test results indicated that 27 of the 44 partygoers had drugs in their systems. Two individuals were charged with possession of crystal meth, two with using crystal meth, and 23 were referred to rehabilitation programs. Additionally, one caretaker faced charges. All individuals were taken to Wang Thonglang Police Station for further legal proceedings.
