Intensifying Socialization, Kominfo Invites Digital TV Migration Society

Bengkulu, Kominfo – The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology continues to socialize the Analog Switch Off (ASO) program or migration from analog television broadcasts (TV) to Digital TV. In collaboration with partners from the Public Broadcasting Institution (LPP) and the Private Broadcasting Institution (LPS), the socialization was intensively carried out through various channels.

Special Staff to the Minister of Communications and Informatics for Political Communication, Philip Gobang, stated that the public must be prepared to enter a new era with the presence of a digital technology ecosystem.

“To the public in general, we urge and invite that together we start today to prepare ourselves to move from analog TV broadcasts to digital TV broadcasts,” he said in the Bengkulu TVRI Public Dialogue, which was broadcast live from Bengkulu, Wednesday (09/03). /2022).

According to Stafsus Philip Gobang, by being part of the digital TV migration, according to him, the community will help the government accelerate digital transformation.

“Through digital TV migration, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics seeks to encourage people to realize national digital transformation,” he said

According to Philip Gobang, digital TV broadcasting provides many benefits to the community, especially for television broadcast fans.

“Things that are more interesting in terms of public viewing, even people have the opportunity when switching to digital to get many channels that can be chosen according to what is their concern for watching,” he explained.

The Special Staff of the Minister of Communications and Informatics for Political Communication stated that every digital TV broadcast provider will have the opportunity to provide better and quality presentations to the public.

“Thus, the community’s need for communication and knowledge can be presented with clean images, clear voices and sophisticated technology,” he said.

Stafsus Philip Gobang stated that the migration of analog TV broadcasts to digital is a necessity to face challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the era of digital technology.

“The migration from analog TV to digital TV is something that we inevitably have to do, we have to follow. Even though Indonesia is lagging behind other countries regarding the ASO program, the current situation requires us to participate in such changes,” he said.

Therefore, the Special Staff of the Minister of Communications and Informatics for Political Communication stated that the Ministry of Communications and Informatics together with the Central and Regional KPIs, LPS partners including LPP TVRI are trying to encourage people to switch to the digital era.

“In accordance with what is currently needed, I want to ensure that all people everywhere, including in Bengkulu, are prepared to enter a new era, a new change with the presence of digital television,” he said.

Three Stages

The migration policy for analog to digital TV broadcasts in Indonesia has been stipulated in the provisions of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation. According to the regulation, the ASO program must be completed within two years from the ratification of the law.

“This means that the migration of analog TV to digital is no later than November 2, 2022. That is the deadline for the migration process,” he explained.

The Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G Plate, has also set three stages of implementing the migration of analog TV broadcasts to digital.

“The first phase is April 30, 2022, which includes 56 service areas in 166 regencies and cities. Bengkulu is included in the implementation area of ​​the first phase of the migration of analog TV broadcasts to digital, “explained Stafsus Philip Gobang.

The second phase of migration will take place on August 25, 2022 in 31 service areas covering 110 districts and cities. Next, the third stage will be on November 2, 2022 in 25 service areas covering 63 districts and cities.

“Our arrival in Bengkulu today is to ensure the migration process goes well through preparations in the field. This includes testing the distribution of special set top boxes for customers, viewers or the public who have registered through the Ministry of Communications and Informatics with certain requirements,” explained the Staff of the Minister of Communications and Informatics for Political Communication.

The Public Dialogue with TVRI Bengkulu also presented the Chairman of the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission, Agung Suprio and the Secretary General of the Indonesian Private Television Association, Gilang Iskandar.
