Bangkok: The Kla Tham Party has announced its decision to support Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, as the next Prime Minister of Thailand. This decision comes in the wake of Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra’s resignation following a Constitutional Court ruling that dissolved the entire Cabinet, necessitating a vote for the country’s 32nd Prime Minister.
According to Thai News Agency, the Kla Tham Party emphasized the need to prevent a political vacuum and urged for an immediate establishment of an executive branch to address pressing national issues, including international conflicts, economic challenges, and social matters. The party’s executive committee, along with its Members of the House of Representatives, unanimously agreed to support Anutin Charnvirakul, emphasizing that any law amendments must not affect the monarchy.
The Kla Tham Party reiterated its commitment to three core institutions: the nation, religion, and the monarchy. They underscored that any future legal amendments should preserve the monarchy, which is deeply revered by the Thai population. Additionally, the party highlighted the need to improve the quality of life for over 30 million farmers by prioritizing their interests over those of capital groups.
The Bhumjaithai Party has accepted the conditions set by the Kla Tham Party and has called for cooperation in forming a new government under the parliamentary system. The Kla Tham Party’s decision is driven by the interests of the Thai people and the nation, as they aim to prevent political instability and ensure continuous development and implementation of policies.
The Kla Tham Party remains committed to standing with the Thai people during this period of political change, upholding the democratic regime with the King as Head of State.
