Mae chaem: Heavy rain caused the Mae Chaem River to overflow and flood communities in Mae Chaem District in the early morning hours, spreading widely. Some villagers were caught off guard and their belongings were damaged.
According to Thai News Agency, heavy rain has caused water from the Mae Chaem River to overflow and flood several villages and communities in Chang Kheng Subdistrict, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province, since early this morning. The water has inundated homes, shops, fresh markets, government offices, and schools. In some areas, the water level is nearly a meter high and is spreading widely. The rapid inundation caught many villagers off guard, waking up to find their homes flooded and their belongings submerged.
Mae Chaem District Chief Kriangsak Boontapuan has ordered administrative officials, members of the Village Defense Volunteers (VDV) company, and local authorities to urgently assist villagers, including moving belongings to higher ground and evacuating vulnerable groups to safer areas. He expects that if no further rain falls upstream of the Mae Chaem River, floodwater levels will gradually recede.
