Bangkok: It’s started! The masses of the United Power of the Land group have marched to Victory Monument to join a significant rally. This morning, traffic was still moving as the event commenced.
According to Thai News Agency, the PAD, the Dharma Army, the PDRC, and hundreds of people gathered at Chamai Maruchet Bridge to prepare for the march to Victory Monument. Participants from various provinces joined the event, waving the Thai national flag and holding signs demanding the prime minister’s resignation.
At 8:30 a.m., the procession began its march, heading towards Uruphong Intersection, then turning onto Rama VI Road, Si Ayutthaya Road, and Ratchawithi Intersection, before reaching Victory Monument. The day’s schedule was packed, starting at 10:00 a.m. with Buddhist prayers and merit-making for soldiers. At noon, the stage opened for speeches, followed by the statement ‘Uniting the Land to Protect Thai Sovereignty’ at 5:30 p.m. Keynote speeches by core leaders, including Mr. Sondhi Limthongkul, Mr. Panthep Puapongphan, and Mr. Jatuporn Prompan, were scheduled until 9:00 p.m.
The rally stage, set up on the island in front of Victory Monument, featured a large sound system for speeches. Though speeches began at noon, the crowd had been gradually gathering since morning. Around Victory Monument, the Student and People’s Network for Thailand Reform (SPNT) and the Dharma Army established a command and coordination point facing Phaya Thai Road, with food and drinking water distribution for participants.
Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, attended to facilitate the event by providing 10 mobile toilets at four locations, drinking water trucks, emergency ambulances, and local law enforcement for safety.
Despite the rally, traffic conditions remained manageable, with police assistance along the route and throughout the event.
